Accountable Village Fund management is essential for promoting transparent and effective village governance, particularly in geographically remote areas such as Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua. This study examines the role of the Community and Village Empowerment Agency (DPMK) in strengthening Village Fund accountability, identifies the enabling and constraining factors, and proposes strategies for improving accountability practices. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving five purposively selected informants. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that DPMK has performed its institutional functions through capacity building, supervision, and administrative facilitation of Village Fund management. However, the effectiveness of these functions remains constrained by limited human resources, challenging geographical conditions, inadequate operational funding, and poor communication infrastructure. Conversely, supportive regulatory frameworks, strong commitment from local government, and inter-agency coordination contribute positively to strengthening accountability. The study concludes that improving the capacity of village officials, enhancing field supervision, expanding the use of digital technologies, and reinforcing institutional coordination are critical strategies for fostering accountable Village Fund management in remote regions.
